Veteran Affairs – Office of Suicide Prevention | 2024-2025

Produced a series of photoshoots across Pittsburgh, San Diego, and Detroit to create a new library of stock images for the VA Office of Suicide Prevention. The goal was to recruit and photograph 150 Veterans in diverse environments and scenarios that highlighted protective factors against suicide. Unlike past sessions that focused on individual portraits, these shoots emphasized group interactions and community support. The resulting assets will be used throughout VA OSP’s communications materials to authentically represent Veterans and promote prevention resources.

My Role

  • Led creative development and scenario planning to shape the year’s photoshoot strategy

  • Partnered with vendors to coordinate talent recruitment, location scouting, and day-to-day schedules

  • Conducted detailed social media reviews of Veteran participants to ensure eligibility and streamline client approvals

  • Oversaw on-set production, ensuring smooth logistics and that all talent and creative needs were met

  • Directed photographers to align on creative goals and capture a wide range of usable assets

  • Managed financials, including work orders and travel budgets, booking all logistics, and ensuring accurate accounting.

  • Coordinated final asset delivery and ensured Veterans were compensated on time

Scope of Work / Deliverables

  • 150 Veterans recruited in 3 cities, for 3-5 days.

  • Produced and developed about 500 photo assets per photo shoot session.

Impact
Delivered a robust photography toolkit that shifted VA OSP’s visual approach toward community and prevention. The assets will serve as the foundation for national communications campaigns, ensuring authentic representation of Veterans across multiple touchpoints.
